Katsu was both a painter and printmaker whose artwork included more than twenty screenprints of flowers. Twenty-seven examples of his flower prints are shown in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Katsu typically simplified both flower shape, using smooth curves, and flower color, using a single color enclosed by a bold dark line. His compositions often featured multiple species of flowers either seen close up (e.g., pictures 1-21) or positioned in the foreground of a landscape scene (e.g., pictures 22-27).
